Evaluation
Your Beltone hearing care professional will guide you through the steps of a thorough hearing evaluation, including:
-
A complete case history, including medical questions, questions about your hearing and your previous hearing instrument use. (link to case history: The case history assesses your lifestyle and listening needs to determine what technology will best meet your requirements.)
-
A simple hearing screening to help us find out whether or not you have a hearing loss. (link to screening: The hearing screening measures your hearing at different sound levels and your understanding of speech in multiple listening environments.
-
A visual examination of your ear using an Otoscope. (link to Otoscope: This test uses a tiny camera to examine the ear canal and eardrum to identify possible blockages that may be causing hearing loss. You will be able to observe the process on a computer screen.)
-
A word discrimination test. (link to word discrimination test: Checks your ability to recognize and repeat spoken words.)
-
All Beltone practitioners strictly adhere to all federal, state and local regulations regarding hearing instrument dispensing protocols, and follow nationally accepted testing guidelines of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, the American Academy of Audiology and the International Hearing Society.
