What are hearing aids, and how can they help?

Hear better; improve your life
A hearing aid is an electronic device worn in or behind the ear to amplify sound and help users hear better in all different environments. All Beltone hearing aids are digital and wireless, which means they provide a personalized listening experience and can easily adapt to your environment.

But, hearing aids are more than just a fancy technology; they reconnect you to your world. A recent Harvard study revealed people who are more socially connected to family, friends, and community are happier, healthier, and actually live longer.

Find a hearing aid style that is right for you.

Beltone offers seven different styles that fall into three main categories: Behind-the-Ear, Receiver-in-Ear, and custom hearing aids. Finding your hearing aid style is personal and depends largely on three factors.

  • Your degree of hearing loss. In-the-Ear and Behind-the-Ear hearing aids are better for treating severe hearing loss. While custom hearing aids worn in the ear canal are a favorite of those with mild to moderate hearing loss.
  • Your lifestyle and interests. Are you an avid hiker, a movie buff, or a foodie? You can choose a style that helps block out the wind, streams sound directly to your device, or easily adjusts in noisy environments.
  • Your personal preferences. For some people, comfort is king. For others, it’s all about convenience. And, of course, some want the most discreet hearing aid possible. There is a style to suit your needs.

What are digital hearing aids?

An award-winning technological advancement, digital hearing aids have almost exclusively replaced analog hearing aids, which amplify all sounds in a person’s environment at the same time.

Digital hearing aids treat different sounds differently, allowing users to personalize their experience. With digital hearing aids you can:

Read your surroundings and focus on voices while reducing annoying background noise

Connect to phones, TVs, and other devices letting you enjoy sound streamed to both ears

Recognize the difference between music and speech and adjust to optimize each

Minimize ever-present noises, such as the hum of a refrigerator, heating system, or fan

Cancel feedback to eliminate the “whistling” sound formerly associated with hearing aids
What are wireless hearing aids?
In a nutshell, a pair of wireless hearing aids shares information with each other by exchanging electronic signals. That helps your hearing aids automatically adjust to your surroundings.

Wireless hearing aids also use Bluetooth technology to communicate with smartphones, tablets, TVs, and hearing accessories. Wireless hearing aid users love streaming sound from their favorite devices and having the ability to conveniently customize what they hear.
